Bereavement

Our services to you do not stop after the funeral. Grieving is a process and it takes time. Here at Bevis Funeral Home we want to try help you heal in any way that we can. As a service, we provide all of our families with a twelve month publication on grief and loss. This publication, called "Transitions," arrives by mail once a month to one member of each family we serve. (Subscriptions are available to additional family members upon request.) "Transitions" is filled with articles and letters by various doctors and grief and loss specialists. Many have found the information to be very helpful through their difficult time.

Along with "Transitions" we have many pamphlets on grief and loss recovery available at the funeral home. Each pamphlet addresses a different, specific topic. Some of the topics include "How to get Through the First Weeks and Months after a Death," "Helping Children Grieve," "Helping a Friend Through Grief," and many others.

At Bevis Funeral Home, we also offer two books written by two acclaimed authors, The Fall of Freddie the Leaf by Leo Buscaglia,Ph.D., and The Grief Recovery Handbook by John W. James and Russell Friedman. Both books are available at Bevis Funeral Home or at most nationwide bookstores.

There are many organizations that specialize in grief and loss. Two local organizations which we have supported over the years are Big Bend Hospice and Lee's Place.

These are non-profit organizations that focus on healing, recovery, and whole life wellness. Contact these organizations by clicking on the links above. You may also find information on grief and loss recovery on the World Wide Web or at local bookstores. If any further information on grief recovery is needed, please feel free to call any of our three locations and speak to one of our representatives.

Thank you,
