Delois Abraham

DeLois Abraham, the second child of Una Mercedes Harrigan Abraham, was a woman defined by her quiet strength, her lovable spirit, and an extraordinary heart for giving. To enter her home was to be welcomed with open arms. She had a rare, giving spirit that ensured every guest left with their heart as full as their hands DeLois lived a full and beautiful life on the island of St. Thomas, Virgin Island. She attended Dober Elementary school, Commandant Gade and was a proud 1969 graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she served as a dedicated member of Christ Church Methodist in Class #15. Throughout her professional life, DeLois was known for her organization, diligence and professionalism. Her professional career prior to retirement spanned several fields, including time spent in the insurance industry. She found the most fulfillment in her years working as a banker in the banking industry and then as an entrepreneur and store owner. Beyond her work, she possessed an adventurous spirit and was an avid traveler. Always ready to go, with her bags packed, DeLois waited for no one to enjoy life. A beloved mother of one, she ensured memories were created with her son from cruises and trips to quiet moments between them and of course being chauffeured from store to store so she could shop! DeLois was always the first one ready to go as she shared numerous trips and spontaneous weekends with her sisters Dawn and Denice, the last few years while living in Florida. A quiet and caring soul, DeLois was well known for her hospitality and her exceptional talent for baking. She will be remembered for her legendary coconut dumb bread and tarts, which brought joy to her family and so many others including those new friends she made while living in Tallahassee. DeLois made her treatment days at the medical facility, a social visit and more about the staff than her. She often showed up weekly with her bags packed and filled with her delicious desserts to share with the staff. She made it her mission these last few years to organize and shop weekly for her special great niece Alyssa’s snacks, ensuring she had everything she needed which cultivated an unbreakable bond between the two. A true testament to the type of woman and nurturer that she was. An avid shopper, DeLois was known for her style and grace and spent so much of her free time shopping for things that she blessed others with, including her family. For every child born into her immediate family, DeLois handmade and sewed a beautiful blanket with their names. Often letting the family know, while she sewed them a blanket, do not call her to babysit unless those nieces or nephews could hold her shopping bags! These last few years, as DeLois made Tallahassee her temporary home, she found joy in attending church, gardening and tending to her plants and most importantly, spending time with her family. Every family gathering she had certain items she provided. Potato stuffing, fruit punch and of course certain desserts! Often traveling back to where her heart remained in St. Thomas, DeLois enjoyed retirement filled with making new friends and leaving a lasting impression on the lives of so many. DeLois was preceded in death by her mother Una Mercedes Harrigan Abraham, her sister, Daphne Sebastien DeSilvia and her brother-in-law Melvin Gumbs. She leaves behind to cherish and carry her legacy, her one and only son, Dean. The absolute love of her life. Her siblings, Dale (Joyce), Denice, Donna Dawson, Dawn, Dion, Derek and Darel. Olivine, Michael, Cheryl, Stephanie and Donna Abraham. Her beloved nieces and nephews, Tisha, Anthony, Tanika, Kineta, Tanjeneque, Tuliah, Chenee’, Taryn, Tishma, Danielle, LeQuinn, Lakeem, LaKyera, Tejonique, Toiryie, Darel Jr., Isiah, Tara, 39 great-nieces and great-nephews, and 3 great-great nieces and nephews that she adored. She will be deeply missed by and lovingly remembered by: Special Cousins: Enola Foy, Erica Yearwood, Esonia Orozco, Patrice Chinnery, Shirlyn Chinnery, Lavonne Clarke, Erwyn Clarke, Kenny Clarke, Julene Clarke, Glenn Chinnery, Laurette Williams-Webbe, Juneau Faulkner, Kade Faulkner, Faye Richardson, James Harrigan, Gerald Harrigan, Joy Harrigan, Joanne Harrigan, Joel Harrigan, Debra Harrigan-Banini, Kevin Harrigan and Michael Harrigan and Elroy Harrigan. Extended families Harrigan, Abraham, Herbert, Sebastian, Gumbs, Caiby, Chinnery, Clark, Faulkner, Phillips, Henley, Lockhart, Graham, Doute, Jackson, Charleswell, Freeman and DeSilvia. Special Friends: Clarence King, Lyra Harrigan, Majorie Dennery, Yvonne Warner, Avery Evans, Vince Evans, Collen Evans, Louis Smith, Muriel Webbe, Mona Parsons, Tresia Mongerie, Sharal Jugger, Elizabeth Humes, Susan Rogers, Delois Brown, Anna White, Calvin Harrigan, Marva Daley, The Savanero Community & St. Michael and All Angels Family. A memorial service will be held at St. Micheal & All Angels Episcopal Church Tallahassee on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026 at 10:00 am.
